Three Years of SuPerTandem – What a Journey!
20250923On Monday 22 September, AMIRES hosted the final SuPerTandem project meeting in Bilbao, bringing together the whole consortium to celebrate three years of collaboration. We marked the occasion with Basque cheesecake and wine and what a sweet way to close this chapter!
What was SuPerTandem about?
SuPerTandem focused on developing high-efficiency tandem solar cells by combining perovskite and silicon technologies. The goal: to make solar energy more affordable and sustainable, while reducing the carbon footprint of photovoltaic production. Over the past three years, the project has delivered significant progress in materials research, device architecture, and efficiency – which will pave the way for researchers and industrial players to produce the next-generation solar solutions Made in Europe.

What’s next?
Although the project officially ends, we’re still working hard to finalize all the technical work, and on howto present the results! After that, it’s time to look ahead and explore new challenges to keep advancing perovskite technologies and strengthen Europe’s position in clean energy innovation.

A big thank you to all partners for your dedication and teamwork throughout this journey. It’s been a pleasure working together!
